Grade: Kindergarten, Grade 1, Grade 2
This institute will introduce you to TCRWP’s Units of Study in K-2 phonics. Co-authors will bring you behind the scenes to understand the decisions that informed the curriculum. You’ll see the curriculum’s grounding in research on how kids develop. Each phonics unit has a storyline—in one, kids solve the mystery of the silent e; in another, they learn that Super Readers rely on word part power to tackle hard words. The second grade curriculum places special emphasis on vocabulary, and you’ll learn the logic that informs that work.
The Phonics Institute is designed for grades K-2 educators, classroom teachers, school administrators, and curriculum specialists who are committed to turning classrooms into richly literate reading and writing workshops.
The noncredit registration fee for this institute is $650. This cost does not include meals or housing. You will be notified by e-mail if your application is accepted. Your acceptance e-mail will provide a link for payment (credit card or PO only). Please do not make any travel plans or reservations before you have been accepted into the institute.
The institute will be held at North Haven Middle School, 55 Bailey Road, North Haven, CT. For registration questions, please call TCRWP at 212-678-3104.
