If you are like many educators right now, you may be concerned about academic slide. This institute is aimed at helping you think through all that you can do right now to lure students into learning and maximize their reading growth over the next several months.
Presenters will share ideas for how you can transfer tips from the classroom into virtual teaching whether teaching synchronously or asynchronously while teaching remotely. During this institute, you’ll investigate what engagement looks and sounds like online and explore ways to entice students to want to be a part of your virtual community. You’ll think about how you can use your virtual platforms to provide equitable access to all learners and promote reading growth.
Expect to think about the foundational skills your students may need, including phonics and phonemic awareness, fluency and comprehension. You’ll learn about the ways you can teach small groups — both virtually and in your classrooms when you return to your school buildings — using a blended learning approach to ensure access and increase student driven learning that will lead to the increased engagement and achievement you are after for your students.
This institute will help you prepare for the summer and the academic school year ahead as we study what’s working in virtual teaching and make plans for the ways you can provide a blended learning environment for your students in the future. Prepare to leave filled to the brim with inspiration and ideas that you can draw from in this ever changing world of teaching.
This institute will be offered online, in real-time via Zoom, and will not be recorded for later distribution. We will accept attendees until the institute has reached capacity.
