Quick Start Conference Days
Since the publication of the Units of Study and more recently the Phonics and the Up The Ladder series, we have had many requests to lead one-day intensives aimed to help a school or district get started implementing the Units of Study curriculum. These one-day conferences help teachers and administrators become acquainted with these curricular supports and grasp the big picture of effective workshop teaching. Teachers also gain an understanding of how to integrate assessment into the curriculum.
Next Step PD Days
Next Step PD Days are designed as a single day of personalized professional development, on-site in a school or district. For schools not yet ready to commit to 5 days of professional development, this single day can be personalized, to help schools take their reading or writing workshops or content area literacy to the next level, and to build a closer relationship with TCRWP research and staff. These days can include labsites and/or study groups or be structured as a conference on a special topic. Next Step PD Days are subject to availability.
Partnering with Schools for 5 Day On-Site PD Cycles
We provide on-site, classroom-based professional development for our partner schools. Staff developers draw on the knowledge base of the entire organization and offer schools the Project’s latest thinking on strategies and methods for literacy instruction. This work, which includes demonstration teaching, coaching, and curricular support, is tailored for individual schools.
Generally, we work with a school for 5 days spaced across the year in grades K-2; five days in grades 3-5; five days in grades 6-8, and/or 5 days of focused school-wide PD designed with the school. There are, however, many other configurations for this work.
